Attach both leads of the meter to the coil-terminals with black to the negative terminal and red to the positive one. The normal, acceptable range for a standard 12-volt car is 1.5 to 1.7 Ohms. See if the reading is within this range.

What I would do is remove the air cleaner tube from where it enters the carbrator and insert the nozzle from a propane cylinder. Step 2: Check the point gap it needs to be .015", you can use a match pack to get close. Turn it over til the points open. If the air filter is below the tank(updraft carb) then gas may continue to seep into the oilbath while sitting. Make sure the cut off is working. Coil is probably the culprit in not running when hot. If it sparks your problem is probably between the battery and the coil, no spark and the problem is from the coil to the plugs. If you hurt yourself (or the tractor) doing this, don't blame me.
